Aidan Bristow MSc
Design and synthesis of novel KISS1R antagonists to restore drug sensitivity to triple-negative breast cancer patients
Aidan was born in West Middlesex and raised in Whitton. He attended Kingston University London as an undergraduate student studying chemistry and continued his studies at Kingston University where he was awarded his MChem in medicinal chemistry. Aidan, completed his final year research project under the supervision of Dr Stephen Wren investigating the synthesis of novel hipposudoric acid derivatives for therapeutic use. After dipping his toes into the research setting, and thoroughly enjoying it, he decided to undertake a PhD within the Wren Group. His research will continue efforts conducted by Mr James Scanlon (a previous Wren Group MRes student) developing novel antagonists for the KISS1R receptor for patients with triple-negative breast cancer.
In his spare time, Aidan enjoys a vast variety of creative hobbies such as miniature wargaming, drawing and even sculpting. He has also been placed first in several videogame tournaments as well as hosting a few in the university’s VAST society. Aidan is very much looking forward to pursuing his love for chemistry and can not wait to see where his research takes him.
